The Toyota Aqua first generation (NHP10) was produced from December 2011 through 2021 on Toyota’s B-platform and sold globally as the Prius c. It uses a 1.5-litre DOHC VVT-i 1NZ-FXE inline-4 Atkinson-cycle engine paired with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor, and a compact 0.9 kWh NiMH battery delivering a combined output of approximately 100 PS. The E-CVT transmission and regenerative braking system enable the Aqua to achieve up to 35 km/L under JC08 test conditions, making it one of the most fuel-efficient non-plug-in cars available. The compact hatchback body measures just 3,995 mm in length, ideal for dense urban environments, while offering seating for five passengers and 260 litres of boot space. In Bangladesh the Toyota Aqua is overwhelmingly popular as a reconditioned import from Japan with the 2011–2019 NHP10 generation being the most commonly seen; a small number of the second-generation XP210 units from 2021 onward also appear in the market.
